Marion Wolves Girls Basketball is building something.

This post lays out our vision, our mission, our values, and our process. Not so you applaud. So you hold us to them.

Where We Are Going

We aim to become college-level hoopers and world-class humans.

Two sides. One coin.

The first half is basketball. We train skill, decision-making, and competitive habits at a level above what the scoreboard asks of us today.

The second half is life. Our players graduate as young women who show up on time, do the right thing (even when it's hard), and lift the people around them.

Winning is an outcome. Winning shows up when we do everything else right. We chase the work of doing every little thing with excellence.

How We Get There

Listen well. Work hard. Grow continually.

Three sentences. Every player learns them. Every coach lives them. 

No growth can happen when we stay in our comfort zones. So we must be pushing each other and ourselves out of comfort and into failure, consistently. That is when we see the growth.

What We Value

Five words. You will hear all five daily. In meetings, in practice, in film, and in hard conversations.

How We Grow

Get it. Do it. Grow it. Repeat it.

GET IT. Learn what we are doing.
DO IT. Execute with a great attitude.
GROW IT. Make mistakes, learn, keep improving.
REPEAT IT. Every rep. Every practice. Every day.

Mistakes belong in the process. We ask players to fail on purpose in practice so they perform under pressure in games.

What Discipline Means Here

Discipline is doing what you are supposed to do, when you are supposed to do it, the way it is supposed to be done.

Discipline is not punishment. Discipline is respect made visible in small things. A tucked jersey. Eye contact when someone speaks. A teammate's name said correctly.

We model the small things first. Then we earn the right to ask for them back.

Hold Us To It

Standards mean nothing if nobody checks them.

So check us.

Watch how our coaches and players treat officials. Watch our bench when we are down fifteen. Watch whether we sprint to a teammate who hits the floor. Watch whether we answer with respect.

If we fall short, tell us. We chose this standard. We own it.
